My uncle has this old house in the country that used to be owned by his grandparents.
Over the winters the pipes sometimes freeze. Last winter they did again. So he wanted to replace the tub with a shower, replace the toilet, part of the floor, and replace the copper pipes with pex. Take a look at the handy work I helped with. We worked about 7 hours Saturday and 4 hours Sunday.
Because of my size, I was the one of course to squeeze below the floor and replace the pipes and run the shower drain.
Trust me I’m not proud of my work here. But for a country house in Rual Missouri it’ll be fine. Also I was just a helper, doing the work along with my brother in law, and two uncles. Pete lives 2 hours away, and my Uncle Pat who owns the place is my Godfather. We didn’t get paid either so I don’t feel so bad slapping this together. We did get grilled steaks Saturday night, and leftovers for lunch Sunday, so there is that.
My Uncle Pete in the Sunday managing position.

Is that spray foam structural? You might need some more 2x4 spray foam

At least it is a job done. I was putting in another downspout yesterday, the weather did not cooperate, an unexpected thunderstorm rolled in, right now it is just a hole in the gutter.

A little bit of heat tape will go along way toward preventing frozen pipes.

I thought Jayhawk Jake and I might run into you on our way back from Nashville yesterday. We stopped at Ethyls for lunch and found out a car club was having an autocross in the west Rascal’s parking lot.

I’ll have to look into that. I don’t have an auto-x car anymore though. Borrow my neighbor’s C5...?
But damn, Hwy WW from Grubville to Fletcher was fun. You & Jake would have loved it in your cars that handle better than a van. I’m going to upload the van dash cam footage tomorrow I’d hope. It’ll be more interesting than my commute footage.

So many times I looked at BIL and said, this is fucked up. But House is not lived in. And I can go down whenever I want for a getaway. Which I may do more now that I’ve been back.

It was the “Misfits car club” and to be quite honest looked a bit sketchy, lots of light poles and curbs to hit. Definitely not SCCA sanctioned, although there were a couple STL SCCA members running CAM-T cars.
We’d have loved to do some fun driving, but we were just trying to get back to Wichita, so I-70 and cruise control were our friends. 12+ hour drives are miserable.

First thing I thought of was all the light posts in that lot. Back when I did autox I had seen a couple accidents at the SCCA gateway events anyway, so no place is safe....
The tractor pull in old St. Peter’s is this weekend. I think I’ll take the kids to that if I’m not working.

Absolutely, even when I was at K-State I would come back to O’Fallon for a couple days to watch that pull. Haven’t been in a couple years now due to schedules, but I did go to the St.Charles County fair last year with my dad because I happened to be in town.

Funny story: while we were there, an neighbor came by and asked Uncle pat if he could metal detect the property, naturally I told pat we could give him something to find and burry all the aluminum lawn chairs, and maybe throw out the screws and nail we don’t use.

Holy fuck. That is the worst work I have ever seen.On all levels. And the knockoff sharkbites?? what self respecting plumber would even consider those? and yes even considering the actual sharkbites count as dipshittery as well.
You do plumbing and don’t even own a crimper and crimp rings for PEX???

Aww hell no. I am not a plumber.
Not a carpenter either. This is a job where you get what you pay for, & it was for family.
I didn’t buy any of the materials either. The well gets shut off so it’s not under pressure 24/7.
I know, it’s bad... but the toilet flushes, so that’s better than an outhouse.
